A practical starting point
How ready is your workflow for AI?
Start with the work, not the tool. Reflect on your process, data, team, tools and goals, then take away a useful next step.
Answer for one workflow, using what you know today. Your answers stay in this page unless you choose to download a brief or carry it to our contact form. Reloading clears your answers.
Self-reported score
Assessment comes first.
These flags matter regardless of your total score. Resolve them with the appropriate owners and reviewers before using AI in this workflow.
Each question has equal weight. Domains contain different numbers of questions, so compare each domain with its own maximum.
This result is guidance for a conversation, not a technical, legal, privacy or safety assessment. Every engagement needs a fit check and an agreed scope. No result promises an outcome, a price or an approved deployment.
“Use this brief in the contact form” replaces any starting brief you previously carried there in this browser tab. You can review it before adding contact details. Nothing is sent by this action.
A reflection, not a prediction.
This is an illustrative self-check. It is not a scientifically validated model, a benchmark against other organisations or a prediction of AI success.
All 12 questions contribute 0–3 points each, with equal maximum weight, for a maximum of 36. Ten questions score their four answers 0, 1, 2 and 3. For consequences and information type (questions 3 and 5), the four answers score 0, 3, 2 and 0: unassessed risk earns no readiness points. Your answers are self-reported and have not been independently checked.
How the four guidance bands work
- 0–8: Groundwork. Choose a workflow and establish the basics.
- 9–17: Focus. Clarify the opportunity and close important gaps.
- 18–26: Explore. Assess whether a bounded experiment is useful.
- 27–36: Pilot discussion. Confirm the foundations before scoping a pilot.
These thresholds give a score-only band. The displayed guidance is qualified by assessment flags: if permission, information sensitivity or consequences need assessment, an Explore or Pilot discussion score becomes Focus guidance. Groundwork and Focus guidance stay as they are. These illustrative choices are not a deployment approval; assessment and human review may be required at any score.
Keep the context close.
- Use one workflow rather than averaging your whole organisation.
- Choose an uncertain answer when you have not confirmed something.
- Do not enter names, email addresses or confidential details. This tool asks only for fixed choices.
- Your download contains your choices and guidance. Share it only with people you choose.
